Spring & Summer Settings
Once spring hits, the heat follows quickly. By summer, it’s not unusual to see high humidity and temperatures consistently in the mid-90s.
To stay comfortable while keeping your energy bill in check:
- Set your thermostat between 72°F and 78°F when you’re home (lower at night, higher during the day)
- Raise it to ~80°F when you’re away
- If you have a ductless unit, you can turn off the system in rooms you aren’t using and crank the cool air in the space your family is using at any moment
- Use ceiling fans to help circulate cool air, and if it is cooler at night, open up some windows to help ventilate your home.
If you have a smart thermostat, you can program it to automatically adjust depending on time of day or your habits!
ACHV Pro Tip: If your home feels muggy or stuffy, you may need a dehumidifier, or there may be something wrong with your home’s ventilation or HVAC. Although it may be humid outside, it shouldn’t be inside.
Fall & Winter Settings
Fall and winter bring mild, more comfortable temps to the Tampa Bay area. Even so, the occasional cold days can have you turning on the heat.
Recommended settings for cooler months:
- Set your heat to 68°F to 70°F during the day
- Drop it a few degrees when you’re not home
- Open blinds and let in natural sunlight during the day to help warm the space
